Answer

A sales pipeline is a list of everyone who might buy from you, organized by how close they are to deciding.

A typical set of stages: New → Contacted → Qualified → Proposed → Negotiating → Won or Lost.

The pipeline is useful for three things. It tells you who needs attention today. It tells you roughly what revenue is coming. And it shows you where deals get stuck, which is usually the same place every time.

Two rules keep it honest. A deal only moves forward when something objective happens — not when the conversation felt encouraging. And every open deal must have a next action with a date. A deal with no next action is not a deal, it is a hope.

A spreadsheet is perfectly adequate. The Sales Pipeline Tracker sets out the columns and the weekly routine.
